so the kids and i have had to improvise this weekend without d & d2 around. (i can't believe how much i miss both of them. i feel like such a nerd.) d2 is a real handful but damn, i think i've fallen for him too. weekends are so crazy but since we've implemented our new sticker system (explanation to follow, this shit is workin', yo) things have mellowed out a lot. that said, it's going to be a quiet summer without d2 around; he leaves next weekend. :( i really hope that we'll (or at the very least, d) be able to get down to so-cal to visit him at least once a month. but my god, with airline/gas prices... (photo to follow; i'm gonna do my self-portrait in front of the shell station this week. *big eyes* things have gotten outrageous.)
anyway, back to improv. kiddos and i had a slumber party with my mom last night (and again tonight) which we used to do all the time. mom and i stayed up late watching intervention, talk about addicting! (sorry for the pun). i took this weekend as a good opportunity to night wean lorenzo (yes, he'll be two next month and sleeps his own bed) (since i anticipated some fussing and didn't want to unnecessarily disturb d's sleep too (though i have to say he's awesome about the whole nursing toddler, waking toddler, occasional co-sleeping toddler). ANYWAY, 'renzo did really well. when he woke up (about 4 times between 1am & 7am) i told him that the boobies were night-night and that he could nurse when the sun came up. he was very easily settled back to sleep. *whew!* so far so good. we'll see how tonight goes.
after an 11.30 donut run (just me n' p) parker had her first real big kid birthday party today. :) the kids and i went to chuck e. cheese to celebrate evan's 4th birthday. both kids were absolutely star-struck by the guy in the chuck costume. so cute. (though i have a no licensed-characters rule in my house, i can't wait to take them to disneyland.) this is one part of parenting i'm really looking forward to: birthday parties, homework help, athletic events and school plays. parker is four and a HALF. this stuff is right around the corner. *le sigh*
this evening, the kids went with bk (though miss p was a little hesitant) and mom and i went to see b and his dad play ice hockey. mom was hooked after the last game we went to (meme, you shoulda called me!). then we found a really good thai place (happens to be right next to yogurtland, holla) and then met the kids back here (my mom's) at 8.30ish to watch movies. b brought his dog charlotte over to visit with my mom's dog and charlotte kindly gave lorenzo a much needed head bath. ;) now i'm watching walk hard: the dewey cox story (nice and brainless) while b and i draw in their sketchbooks. *yawn* you two enjoy yourselves, i'm goin' to snuggle with my kiddos. wish me luck with mr. booby-baby.

k, where are those baggy socks? give me your worst camping laundry d. a small confession especially for those who hate on d for the lack of laundry facilities (which isn't true as it turns out, there IS a washer and dryer at his place): i love laundry. i really and truly love laundry. it is so satisfying to me to start with a giant pile, sort it, wash it, dry it, fold it, and put it away where it goes. kid laundry is great because it starts out filthy and d generally has some goodies from being under houses or at the gym during the week. and when i've done enough loads and saved up i get to do my most relaxing chore, iron. sometimes when 'renzo is down for his nap i'll watch 90210 and iron...for fun. how dorky is that? (wow this is a major tangent, too many gummi bears, too little sleep.) laundry has become that much better since we got our closet organizers, everything has it's place and that satisfies me to no end. what's your favorite chore?
