all my days
made a call to dr. bates last night around 7 (angry left boob, does it need it's own acronym by now?) incredibly, though he was not the on call doctor, he talked to me on the phone for about 10 minutes and made an appointment to meet me on a mother-effing saturday. that's right. he came in on his day off to look at ALB. he came to the clinic at 9am in jeans, a baseball cap and checkered vans. *drool* he rocks. ALB was terrifically bruised from the inside, skin was more damaged from radiation or nursing or some random shit. won't be losing more skin it looks like. seems the low grade fever was very early internal infection in a spot that one wouldn't notice without being a surgeon with practiced hands. in any case i was put on a new antibiotic to fight the bitch back. awesome.
the good(ish) news is that these bitches came out. danny and i were expecting a skinny little tube like what hung out but no it was that wide white part that was on the inside. half inch wide bendy ruler thing coming out a tiny little hole. yowza, that stings. it was quick though and i came home and took a mother fucking shower. it was so amazing. side wounds will be healed up by morning; no stitches, no tape necessary.
for i look around me
and my eyes confound me
and it's just too bright
as the days keep turning into night

2 days 20 hours 48 minutes
the kids and i rode our bikes to the library today (about 4 miles round trip, not bad for a 5 and 8 year old) and stocked up on books and movies for after my surgery. i came home with:
- seasons 1, 2 & 3 of united states of tara (com/dram 992 minutes)
- cold souls (com/dram 101 minutes)
- capote (dram/crime 114 minutes)
- an education (drama 100 minutes)
- death at a funeral (the original british version comedy 90 minutes)
- the other guys (comedy 107 minutes)
- margot at the wedding (com/dram 93 minutes)
- cyrus (com/dram 91 minutes)
that's roughly 28 hours of mindless vicodin-high tv watching. care to join me?
thursday 13: week 19
thirteen things that have nothing whatsoever to do with one another edition
1) anyone wanna go to the desert with me and get real high and visit the integratron? that's right folks, it's the only "acoustically perfect tabernacle and energy machine sited on a powerful geomagnetic vortexin the magical mojave desert" or the whole united states for that matter... looks fuuuun!
2) tasty salted pig parts anyone? if you're in san francisco and get a chance to head to the ferry building please stop into boccalone. get a salumi cone. or a panini. get something!
3) where is my corvette summer (tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice & tonic)?
4) i've been sick for a week but managed not to miss a run. thanks to my komodosport vibrams my thighs and butt are sore but NOT MY HIPS OR BACK. whoop!
5) friday parker wasn't feeling great and was complaining about going to school. i overheard lorenzo earnestly advising her to go: "how are you ever going to get a good job parker if you don't go to school!?"
6) danny is at the movies with the kids and i am here at home. ftw!
7) listen to the romance of wolves by roma di luna. fer reals ya'll.
8) watch george w. bush: the 9/11 interview if you missed it on national geographic (the link is part 1 of 3). you probably know how i feel about gwb (i'm disgustingly leftist) but this was er, more human maybe, than i'd seen from him before. found myself crying through a few parts of it, unable to imagine the weight of being IN CHARGE that first day.
9) seriously j-wow's new boobs? seriously?
10) wore those shoes to mike's wedding. LOVE.
11) my five year old can listen to any song he wants anywhere in the world, anytime. this, i tell my father, is what has changed music in the past 50 years.
12) is it fall yet? it's so difficult to work with chocolate in this weather. gah!
13) read this book review on npr and i'm totally intrigued. anyone read this?
and it doesn't hurt that this is one of johnny depp's favorite bands either...
Should you expect to see something that you hadn't seen
In somebody you'd known since you were sixteen;
if love is a bolt from the blue, then what is that bolt but a glorified screw?
and that doesn't hold nothing together
Far from these nonsense bars and their nowhere music it's making me sick
And I know it's making you sick
There's nothing there, it's like eating air
It's like drinking gin with nothing else in
That doesn't hold me together.
But for one crowded hour, you were the only one in the room
And I sailed around all those bumps in the night to your beacon in the gloom
I thought I had found my golden September in the middle of that purple June
But one crowded hour would lead to my wreck and ruin
Now I know you like your boys to take their medicine
From the bowl with a silver spoon
Run away with the dish and scare the fish by the silvery light of the moon
Who were taught from the womb to believe to the tune
In as far as their bleeding eyes see
Is a pleasure pen, meant for them, built for and rent for them
Not for the likes of me
Not for the like of you and me
And for one crowded hour, you were the only one in the room
And I sailed around all those bumps in the night to your beacon in the gloom
I thought I had found my golden September in the middle of that purple June
But one crowded hour would lead to my wreck and ruin
Oh but the green-eyed harpy of the songland
She takes into hers my hand
She says, "Boy I know you're lying
Oh but then, so am I,"
And to this I said "Oh well."
They put me in a cage full of lions, I learned to speak lion
In fact I know the language well
I picked it up while I was versing myself in the languages they speak in hell
That night, the silence gave birth to a baby
They took it away to her silent dismay
And they raised it to be lady
Now she can't keep her mouth shut
yes, i think this background is working AND thursday 13: week 16
whatever the hell i feel like edition, namely
celeste is
1) celeste is leaving for seattle/port townsend in six days and is totally unprepared for the trip. we are flying. it's for our family reunion. ready for a break. deargodletitbesunny. yeahright. it'sneverfuckingsunnyinseattle.
2) celeste is letting her children eat potato chips and (bad) chocolate for lunch today and doesn't. even. care.
3) celeste is (still) in love it's been almost four years. wtf, man? where does time go? also, danny is going to school again, to be a firefighter/sar/paramedic/orsomething. he's already a successful contractor. but ya know, he's a huge underachiever.
4) celeste is very tempted to go public with the blog again. is there a way to BLOCK specific emails/ip addys?
5) celeste is really in quite in love with this song...and the random video too.
6) celeste is on her way out the door to the kitchen and will continue from there
7) celeste is apparently forgetful. hullo? it's sunday and here i am finishing this...
8) celeste is totally impressed with this download: TuneUp. if you are an itunes user, this is for you!
9) celeste is walking three days a week with mara and colleen and gonna get in shape (and make colleen cry while i'm at it). have i mentioned how important it is to have mom friends when you're a parent? WHY DIDN'T I LISTEN SEVEN YEARS AGO? this is seriously my sanity.
10) celeste is SO OVER summer. please, it is bad for mama's mental health to listen to fighting all day. also, chocolate business + summer heat in california = WAY TOO HARD.
11) celeste is so sure (tonight) that she doesn't want more babies. yes, i get a little achy around the ovaries every once in a while but all in all this freedom + awesome kid-ages thing makes me want to keep. moving. forward. have i mentioned that i love 7.5 year olds?
12) celeste is terrifically fascinated with the raising of honey bees and very lucky to have a regular at my farmers' market who brings me fresh honey ON THE FRAMES for our s&b honey caramels. :D
13) celeste is gonna go watch tv with dandan now that the kids have stopped their squealing.
so i mentioned the ocd right? right?
i can't stop watching sister wives. i may or may not have bit d(anny)'s head off when he suggested canceling my recording in favor of the 49ers getting their asses whooped at sunday night football. i'm generally a live and let live kinda gal, strongly in favor of legalizing gay marriage et al. honestly, i don't care if you marry your pet goat as long as the goat consents. these four adults seem relatively well adjusted and their kids seem healthy and happy. they aren't pushing the polygamy thing on anyone else and shit, i'm happy and fascinated to watch a family with a life so different than mine. that said, when is the cattiness starting? thoughts?
