met up with bk's mom for lunch today. she came over to the house so we could drive together and get pho (p's request, soup? on a day this hot!?). d2 came to the door and she met him; d was in the shower. i was expecting some awkwardness because i don't know how much they know but it was really fine. we chatted about the kids, her work, how bk's dad is doing. she helped facilitate the noodle monsters. miss p started talking about how she fell asleep in the car on the way home from the seder last night and how she was 'soooo sleepy that we didn't even do hugs and kisses.' i said i gave you hugs and kisses but you were already asleep so you must not have even noticed! 'yes, but i felt d give me hugs!' the busser walked up at this time, there was some interruption and she said it a second time. i looked up and mil was wiping tears from her eyes. 'man! this rooster sauce is spicy!' i don't know if it really was the sauce or if she knows how little bk is participating or if she's just sad 'cause the kids will grow up in a divorced home or if she knows the huge role d has taken on. it made me embarrassed and sad. i feel in a way we've let them (the outlaws) down too. i love these people. they've been my family for years. i'm glad the ugliness has not interfered with that and honestly, the idea that they might 'disown' me has been a large part of my hesitation about taking bk to court. i'm assuming they know at this point and they must know that he forced my hand. i mean, what can he say... 'that bitch is taking me to court to try and get me to help FEED the kids! can you believe the gall?'
the relationships that form in situations like these are odd and completely unexpected. d2 plays soccor on saturdays with his boys under 8 team. d and the kids and i go to watch of course, and a, d's mama. yesterday miss p spent half the game sitting on a's lap. :D i think she (a) was a bit confused at first but she still let her sit there... honestly, i'd like to be in a place at some point where d and the three kids and i, bk & miss bk (okay, that'll be hard), a & her partner could all be together to support this incredible pack. can you imagine what christmas morning might look like!? ha.
