i've been trying to figure this crap out all afternoon. i found a cheap policy for r and boo, but blue cross is denying me coverage due to my "pre-existing condition." they won't cover me until i have been in remission for TEN years! i was told that i could get a major risk policy which would run anywhere between $250 and $600(!) a month. gee, great. i do not qualify for COBRA because my previous plan is through school, not work. i spoke with a woman at the california department of insurance and she informed me that since there is no law stating that people have health insurance, there is no reason california has to make sure that i can obtain health insurance. even CARS have to be insured for christ's sake! i have a call into a social worker at the hospital and the insurance broker who helped mom when i was diagnosed. hopefully someone will call me back. not likely at 4.53 on a thursday though.
