well, i didn't think i'd have something to complain about so soon. lucky you! yesterday an electrician came out from citywide electric (licence #737583 in case you would like the avoid them in the future) to install an outlet in our master bathroom. electrician guy quotes us $295, we agree to the fee, he begins to work. the whole job takes him less than 30 minutes. he asks me to try out the plug and i notice that he's installed a brown outlet and cover. the walls are white. all the other outlets are white.
i ask him: "is it hard to change it to white?"
electrician guy: "yes, you should have told me you wanted white. the wires are hot."
me: "you should have asked me. i assumed you would see that all the other ones are white." (i also assumed he would have turned off the f-ing power while he was doing the install. wrong on two points!)
electrician guy: "no one is going to see it anyway."
me: "i am."
at this point electrician guy storms out to his truck to "check" for one. meanwhile i get r and tell him what's happened. he agrees that brown is unacceptable. electrician guy comes back with a white cover: "this is all i have."
r: "how long will it take you to go to home depot and buy a white outlet?"
electrician guy storms out again and comes back having miraculously found a white outlet in the truck. he replaces the brown stuff with white. we discover later that he's done a shitty job; the outlet is crooked and he's cut the hole too big. r calls citywide and speaks with three supervisors (who are all jerks to him) before they agree to send someone else out to fix it. argh! *bangs head*
in better news: we saw rosanna today and our favorite doula, treesa. mr. baby is still head down, measuring right on and seems to be rather long and skinny like parker was/is. i have a little swelling in my ankles but rosanna thinks a little nettle tea will take care of that. my homebirth kit is just about completed; all i need to get is a tarp to put under the birth pool, should i choose to have a water birth. i can't believe there's going to be an actual baby here soon. and i can't believe he's going to be born right here in this very room! i'm so excited!
