and my advice is:
start building your family tree on the geni website. d's family did it and my mom's family too. dear god, i hope we aren't related 'cause this website will sure figure it out if we don't. i've started to add my dad's side of the family and then i'll email it to everyone (that i'm related to) so that we can really get building. it's so user friendly.
start reading jeffery eugenides's (<- look it up in the newest mla handbook (3.2.8.e) ALL proper nouns, even those ending in 's' get an apostophe and an 's', m'kay?) book, middlesex. i'm not even 50 pages into it and i'm flippin' hooked. "I was born twice: first, as a baby girl, on a remarkably smogless Detroit day in January of 1960; and then again, as a teenage boy, in an emergency room near Petoskey, Michigan, in August of 1974."
start eating at dia de pesca if you're anywhere near san jose california. don't be fooled by the unpretentious location, this is the best mexican seafood around (try the fresh, real crab chimichanga, the salmon taco, or the prawn quesadilla. yum, or dare i say, yum-o.) there's a line a lunchtime.
